I’m delighted to share that Fleet Alliance has been named a Best Workplace for Women in the 2025 certification rankings for medium-sized businesses by Great Place to Work, the global authority on workplace culture.
The accreditation is the fourth time that Fleet Alliance has been recognised, building on our culture of fairness, trust, engagement and respect.
What makes this recognition particularly meaningful is that it’s based purely on employee feedback gathered through the Great Place to Work survey. According to Great Place to Work, 85% of the ranking is driven by what women report about their own workplace experience—and how fairly those experiences compare to men’s.
For us, that matters. It’s fundamental that everyone at Fleet Alliance experiences fairness at work—and beyond that, an environment that’s enjoyable, supportive and energising. We want Fleet Alliance to be a place that attracts and keeps the best talent. This accreditation tells us we’re on the right path.
To be considered for the UK’s Best Workplace for Women list, organisations must meet several criteria, including:
Employing a minimum of 10 women
Ensuring at least 25% of the workforce are women
Having a baseline of 20% women in non?executive management roles
Having a minimum of one woman on the board or at executive/C-suite level
These aren’t difficult numbers for us to meet. Women make up 55% of our total workforce, and 40% of our senior management team.
Creating progressive pathways into leadership is essential, as is recognising and responding to women’s well-being and family commitments. These are not “nice to haves”—they’re core to building a workplace that truly works for women.
Sara’s experience at Fleet Alliance

Name: Sara Marshall
Role: Sales Support Administrator
Sara Marshall is a Sales Support Administrator who joined Fleet Alliance 12 months ago. Previously, she had worked in the IT industry
“I saw this job advertised at Fleet Alliance and did some digging about the company. The reviews were positive, it had won awards for its people culture and many of the benefits were highly appealing, so I thought I would proceed with the application. I was successful and got the job!” says Sara.
So after a year at Fleet Alliance, have the reviews matched the reality of working at Fleet Alliance?
“I would say it does,” continues Sara.
“It’s a really enjoyable place to work, even if the pressures are perhaps more demanding than I had expected, the people are friendly, and it’s a highly welcoming environment. Everybody is very approachable which makes a huge difference. Your colleagues respect you and you feel valued by your managers. I would certainly recommend others to come and work here.”
Jill’s experience at Fleet Alliance

Name: Jill Sidebottom
Role: Head of Account Management
With 19 years’ experience at Fleet Alliance, Jill Sidebottom is a long standing member of the team. But what does she think makes the company so special for women like her?
“I think the ability to grow and develop within the business has been really fundamental,” she says. “I’ve been able to work in a variety of different roles and grow within the company as Fleet Alliance itself grows.”
She says that the core Fleet Alliance values of Fairness, Trust, Engagement and Respect have always been rooted in business, “but it’s about the people” and extending those values to both colleagues and customers. Jill says certain practices have been adapted and changed as Fleet Alliance has grown over the years she has been there.
“I think the acquisition of Fleet Alliance by the Global Vehicle Group is an exciting opportunity to see what this might bring. We’re being left to run independently but we can adopt best practices from each member of the group – and of course share Fleet Alliance best practices, too.”
Finally, for a woman considering joining Fleet Alliance, what would she say to them?
“I have to say I’ve always felt like a person in business at Fleet Alliance, even if the automotive industry has been historically male dominated,” Jill continues.
“Fleet Alliance is an open and transparent company. We’re about looking after employees and providing them with the tools and support to have a great place to work. We genuinely want people to achieve, it’s about becoming part of a supportive family that works well together.”
