Techno-blogIt’s official! Not only are we one of the top places to work in the UK (thank you Great Place to Work Institute) – not forgetting that our homework was marked with a gold star (thank you Investors in People) – but we’re also award-winningly tech-savvy.

Yup.

Move over London’s Old Street based Techno Hub because Fleet Alliance is coming on down.

Our brilliant e-fleet app has won the Best App Award in the 2014 BusinessCar Fleet Technology Awards, which is called, appropriately enough, The Techies.

The e-fleet app and e-fleet management system provide real benefits for managing fleets more effectively.

BusinessCar is one of the UK’s leading fleet titles and their awards are the only technology-based awards in the country, so I’m genuinely pleased to have won this.

The award really does rubber stamp what we’ve felt for a long time: that we’re in the forefront of fleet management, not only with our app – sorry, award-winning app – but with our cloud-based e-fleet management system than can be accessed 24/7 from anywhere in the world.

And it’s not just technology for the sake of technology. The e-fleet app and e-fleet management system provide real benefits for managing fleets more effectively.

A report from Software BuyerView, called 2014 Fleet Maintenance Management (see my blog Finding the right fleet management tools), assessed the needs of sub-100 fleets. And top of their list of wants was an online management system that could replace old Excel-based reporting systems, and provide detailed and proactive fleet information all in one place.

Well, that’s exactly what e-fleet provides. And now we have a Techies award to prove it!

So thank you to the editorial team at BusinessCar for recognising our techno progress – it’s much appreciated. Even by non-techies like me!

We’re a techno marvel!

Five blasts from the past and their green contemporaries

This weekend Fleet Alliance is delighted to be supporting the RSAC Three Lochs Classic which takes place on 17 August. Organised by RSAC Motorsport, the classic car rally features around 100 cars dating from the early 1900s to 1982. And Fleet Alliance is the title sponsor of the event, the first time we’ve had the … Continued

Should we tax diesel cars to enter our cities?

They don’t call London Mayor Boris Johnson the ‘blond bombshell’ for nothing. This week he unclipped the safety pin and lobbed a £10 tax for diesels grenade into the mediasphere. Wow! That really exploded onto our attention. With the dust settling, it’s clear there are many things going on here and at different levels. The … Continued

Using the Commonwealth Games to promote fleet safety

I’m not one for making a huge deal of where Fleet Alliance Towers is located. We’re a national company after all. But not this time. We’re home of the Commonwealth Games. I’m really excited for the city, and for the regeneration it brings to the parts of Glasgow along the Clyde – and for the … Continued

Google takes safety to the ultimate level

This week the internet search giant Google revealed its first prototype driverless car. I may not be alone in thinking the friendly-faced bubble car has a distinct resemblance to my nephew’s Little Tikes Cosy Coupe play car – the red and yellow plastic bubble car that kids can push along with their feet. The Google … Continued

From the school run to the streets of New York

Imagine a moment in your life that should be joyful, welcoming and fun actually being more stressful than what you would experience at work. I had to do a double-take when I saw that very question asked on TV, whilst preparing for the day at Fleet Alliance HQ. Believe it or not, it involved the … Continued

Setting the gold standard

Now you might think that any right-on managing director and successful management team wouldn’t countenance such nonsense as dressing up in onesies (for the day). Or having treat days, a pancake day (on Shrove Tuesday naturally) or Easter egg decorating competitions. Now I’m sure more conservative management teams would throw their hands up in horror. … Continued

Five Chinese crackers

Last week in my blog I talked about the New York Motor Show – and offered my pick of the exciting cars on show Stateside. This week it’s the turn of the Beijing Motor Show, which has just finished. And the Chinese market is where it’s all happening – car growth is booming: nearly 22m … Continued

Six stateside showstoppers

Motor shows used to be just for Europe – plus the great Tokyo Show in Japan and Detroit in the US, of course, but no more. In the world economy, car makers need to display their new cars around the world and in different, more affluent areas. So the New York International Auto Show runs … Continued

A bit of zaniness is better for service

I’ve talked about Fleet Alliance Loves before in this blog. It’s the bit where we let the staff loose, so to speak, to do their own thing. Some of it’s daft, some of it’s highly strenuous, but the concept is all based around charitable giving, involvement in the community, and environmental engagement. So whether it’s … Continued
