| It's a serious business having a ball! 6 September 2012
I know my blogs usually follow a theme: cars, business success. More cars, more business success... And I’m really pleased there’s been so much business success to celebrate recently. But I’m going off-piste on this one. I want to celebrate the support of our team here at Fleet Alliance, and the kind donations of supporters, for the charity work they perform. In particular the key charities we support: Maggie’s, who we’ve had the pleasure of working with for a number of years now, and The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice who we are delighted to be supporting for the first time this year. Quite possibly these charities have escaped your notice. They don’t enjoy the profile of Cancer Research or Macmillan’s, but like these two, Maggie’s and The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice provide invaluable support to cancer suffers, and the families of suffers. It would be magnificent if we could nudge our charity total past the £100,000 mark.
Over the last five years, staff here are Fleet Alliance have cycled, run, skydived and hiked their way – with your generous support – to an amazing charity fund-raising total of £74,000. This year we have decided to take our fund-raising efforts to a new level and host our very first charity ball. The event takes place on Friday, 7th September and I'm delighted with the response. The level of support from staff, business colleagues, friends and family, not to mention local businesses, has been incredible. It would be magnificent if, with all the fabulous prizes and raffle prizes that have been donated, we could nudge our charity total past the £100,000 mark by the end of the night. We shall of course have a ball doing it. Our staff knows how to do that all right! But the serious business is helping our charities.
