Fleet Alliance 'daredevils' jump for charity
22 September 2011

The £100 fill-up Five female staff members at contract hire and fleet management specialist Fleet Alliance - dubbed ‘the Fleet Alliance daredevils’ - have raised over £1,350 for a cancer charity after parachuting from more than 10,000 feet.

The death-defying charity high dive was in aid of Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres and swells the amount the company has raised for the charity this year to over £13,350.

The famous five, who were sky-diving for the first time, were (left to right): Lauren Sallows, Hayley McGhie, Leigh Meldrum, Laura McKechnie and Jenny McRobb.

Jenny McRobb, from sales support, said:  “We decided to do the jump because we admire all the work that Maggie’s does and we wanted to contribute to this while setting ourselves a personal challenge.”

Fleet Alliance managing director Martin Brown praised the efforts of the fearless five. “They are to be applauded for the bravery and initiative they have shown in this fantastic fund-raising effort for Maggie’s Cancer Care centres.”

Fleet Alliance earlier this year raised over £12,000 from Maggie’s Monster Bike and Hike, which involves a 31-mile bike ride and hikes of up to 42 miles in the Scottish Highlands, thanks to the efforts of fleet customers, suppliers, staff, family and friends.

The company had a team of seven staff in this year’s event, the fourth in which it had participated and the first in which it was the official transport sponsor. Over the last four years, Fleet Alliance has raised more than £45,000 in charitable donations for the cancer charity.

Maggie’s Cancer Care Charity comprise five centres in Scotland, including Edinburgh and Glasgow, plus London, Oxford and south west Wales, with three more planned in Nottingham, the north east and the Cotswolds.
